Denon Receivers Troubleshooting

Typical turn on sequence for Denon Receivers.

When you plug it in and turn on main power switch there should be solid red power light, the receiver is in standby mode.
After you press power button you hear a relay click then Display turns on, power light flashing green for few seconds then turns in solid green light. In few seconds you hear another clicks (speaker relays) and get a sound.

Non typical (error) turn on sequences for Denon receivers:

1. Standby mode - solid red power light. When you press power button, you hear first relay click, display is on, power light flashes green few times then switches to constantly flashing red. No second relay click. No display messages.
In most cases there is a problem with power supply section or power amplifier section (one of the channels is blown)

2. Solid red power light. You press power button, hear first relay click, no display messages, power light flashes green few times then switches to solid green. No display, no sound.
Usually the problem caused by missing voltages from main power transformer. In some cases the unit has bad main power transformer. Some times it could be just bad internal fuse. Most likely the power amplifier has bad channel which caused main fuse to blow.

3. Solid red power light on. No responce to power button or remote control.
Most likely the receiver has a problem with main macroprocessor.

4. No standby power light, no display, dead unit.
Check standby power supply. Some models has an electronics fuse in standby section after a bridge rectifier. If standby voltage is ok, main cpu is probably bad.

How to reset a Denon Receiver.

Some problems could be fixed by resseting main macroprocessor. The receiver will be reseted to the factory default setting. All customers settings will be lost.
